As Salaam Alakum Brother Dean Smith, you may not know me, but I am currently a student in the N.O.A.H program, here at Hofstra University class of 2002. I came from Bushwick Outreach were Brother Tabari Zaid Bomani teaches. A man, who I dearly consider to be my father, (DADDY). Brother Dean Smith you have touched the lives of many people. From all ages and walks of life. You have Influence and touch people’s lives, such as my dad Tabari, to my Freshmen Orientation Teacher, Professor Alston and to one of my very own class mates Jimmy Aquino. Brother Dean Smith you are truly a blessed man. To keep this in vision of continuing education on any level is a true inspiration to our young and unstable youth. It behooves them to understand the caliber of education of today’s society, and to know that it is a lesson that needs to be taking in, with seriousness and passion. To do such an act of this prestige is truly “Reviving the Legacy” and paying homage to our dear ancestors. For that I am extremely grateful to be apart of this honorable history in the making, such as the N.O.A.H program. We all have a deep and desirable determination to instill the art of education to our youth. There is no doubt in my mind that this program will successfully take off for years and years to come. I will continue to kept this and every ounce of effort each individual contributes to the upbringing of this program, in prayer. Leave everything up to “GOD” and all of life success will follow with ease.

Hola to my dear NOAH Brothers and Sisters who I am looking forward to seeing at our NOAH Alumni Reunion Dinner on the 18th of October 2003. "Education is the passport for the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today." -El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. My silence as a student was a time to absorb and learn. My inner resistence and anger, was molded and channeled into a passion and love to give back to my community and the program. NOAH 95 would give birth to a willing follower and a capable leader who has learned and continues to learn from standing atop of the shoulders of Giants. Leaders often become discouraged at the thought of those who they are leading, NOT getting the message. Rest assured, in my efforts to give back to the program that has given so much to me, the message was received. Dean Smith, I was listening, now I understand. Please, pencil me in. -Baraka Corley NOAH '95

Brother Smith, I'm excited to hear that you are still trying to reach our people through knowledge and truth. I thank God for putting us together and that I hope our new generation reach a thirst for knowledge and empowerment. I know you are always there for me, and I'm letting you know that I will always be there for you. Like brothers and sisters we must be there for one another. Your academy will be great and with our help it will be a special school for our children, but like the Noah mentality "if there is no struggle, there is no progress" and the struggle will never stop, until we empower our self’s first with the truth, and then change the world.

And so the struggle does continue and the river does continue to flow...it's been a long time since I stared into "There is a River" with my NOAH classmates not knowing that we would develop a bond, a brotherhood, a family, that neither time nor thousands of miles could seperate us from. This site, this school, these idea's are all blessings that are the likely conclusion of the many talented individuals and vision that was always present amongst us. I will be there to show my support for this school and to see the rest of my Noah family. It's been said "college days swiftly past, in few of memories fond, and the recollection slowly fades away" ....I am glad to see that we will not allow it to fade.

'89 was a extremely important year. A pivotal year in which changed my life. Hofstra University but more importantly the NOAH program, staff, and fellow students left a mark on my spirit and soul. I will never forget the experiences or the people in whom I met in my NOAH travels. If the success of the NOAH program show what a mighty people can do, the efforts of the individuals behind this Academy will further create leaders of tomorrow. Lifelong friends and relationships have grown out of my Hoftsra days, along with much success professionally. I owe alot to the staff and more importantly the direction of Frank Smith!

Greetings Brothers and Sisters. I am more than excited to see that so many of you have written in the guest book. For those that may not know me, I began my journey to consciousness through the NOAH Program on June 29, 1994. There are few blessings that a person may experience in life; Frank W. Smith and "his" NOAH Program are mine. I am glad to hear that he has room to grant one more blessing for the youth of today. The W.E.B. Dubois Academy, full of potential and prophecized radiance, will be the shining star needed to promote positivity and a sense of self-worth within our youth. No longer will our youth have to battle the lies taught day to day. The limits of tyrants have been prescribed!!! If I can assist in anyway, please feel free to contact me. Greetings and warmest regards to all my fellow alumni, family, friends, business associates and considerate members of our global community who understand the tremndous power of education. I would like to encourage you all to bookmark this website for future referencing of the progress of this noble venture. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming Hofstra/NOAH Alumni Reunion Dinner. It will give us all an opportunity to reflect on our past, the current challenges before us, and our positive outlook for the future. Of course, with your continued and ongoing support even beyond the Reunion Dinner, The Academy will certainly be there as a beacon of personal development and enlightenment. I commend and honor all who have contributed to this endeavor, and encourage everyone else to do whatever they can to make the WEB DuBois Academy a reality. In closing, I just want to leave the visitors to this site with an inspirational passage that was shared with me nearly four years ago. It reads: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. ;There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. it's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear; our presence automatically liberates others." [from Nelson mandela's Presidential inaugural speech] Clearly, WEB DuBois would have it no other way. And so we begin the task of making the ideal of "each one teaching one" a reality. Please join us ...

First of all, I would like to say Dean Smith you have truly been an inspiration in my life. I am very proud of you and your associates. It has really touched my heart to see the dedication to the liberation of our people. People have asked, where are our leaders? Where are our modern day Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Sojourner Truth, etc.? My answer is simply, they are right here!!! Each and every person who is involved directly as well as indirectly in establishing the W.E.B. Du Bois Academy. This vision WILL come to light!!! NOAH Family, I am looking forward to the reunion. Greetings my fellow NOAH Alumni, current students, and all concerned partcipants of this requisite vision made manifest by our dear brother Frank W. Smith. Congratulations to all involved in bringing this vision thus far to fruition. I am overwhelmed with pride and joy! I only wish I were there to have lent assistance in any manner I could, and more importantly, send my children there! Please know that I continue to pray for God's will to be done in the education of his people through this vehicle. Frank, anyone who knows you knows you have been set apart to do very special things. The lives you have touched are innumerable, for it is not only those of us who are better people for having the privilage of knowing you, but those lives that we have in turn touched as well. I am overjoyed with the antcipation of what is in store for our people in (my birth place) Queens. I am confident that just as with the NOAH program, the W.E.B. DuBois Academy will demonstrate "best in class" curriculum, administration, and operation, and become "the" example of what Charter schools, with a particular emphasis on historically oppressed people, is supposed to be like. I look forward to seeing everyone in October. I wish it were sooner. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist. Your brother, William Mayo.

This site clearly presents the mission of the school. It is wonderful to see that parent involvement is part of the plan of success. I look forward to seeing the NOAH family at the dinner. Gerald King from NOAH 1985 will be there. (I hope to see more pictures from back in the days at the dinner)

I am a young man from South Africa. I met with Prof Frank Smith we, were on the same flight from Johannesburg to New York. This is a wonderful man and a man of vision. Throughout my stay in New York for the 4months I learnt a lot. I can claim Him as my Proffessor too. Congratulations on embarking on this endeavour and hope that this will trickle down to Africa. The website is clear, informative, thought provoking and indeed W.E.B Du Bois Academy will come to fruition. I call upon all of you to support this endeavour. I also want to attend this Re-Union all the way from South Africa even though I am not a NOAH Alumni, I think the Noble Goal alone is worth travelling 12000miles for. Tommorow belongs to those who prepare for it today that is what I think W.E.B Du Bois Academy is doing .This is the survival of our people. All the oppressed people of the world. Let Us Treasure ourselves by building our Youths today

I'm not a NOAH grad, but I worked hard with Dean Smith to keep the NOAH program afloat when the HEOP programs came under attack by our current state governor Pataki. I am proud to continue to work Bro. Smith on this bold and much need educational enterprise. Each one, teach one! Peace & Power. Joan

As an alumni of the NOAH Program, my life is full testament of what belief, love and guidance can do for a former young Black boy like myself. Frank is a remarkable individual who impacted my life and I am sure that the miracles he worked on me will work for your sons and daughters.

Congratulations! An excellent web site. I congratulate the designer. Initially reference was made to the 6th, 7th and 8th grades but at other times only the 7th and 8th were mentioned. I found that somewhat confusing.

We are working very hard to prepare a great evening for you. I hope you will attend. We also need your help. Right now we need your $100 contribution for the dinner. In addition, we need you to send us names of NOAH students you are in contact with. This IS vital to our efforts for a great turn out. IF THERE IS NO STRUGGLE THERE IS NO PROGRESS!! NOAH 80!

The WEB Dubois Academy is a school that has been birthed from the Spirit of education and the struggles of oppressed people. This school is needed and long over do. I know this school will create leaders with a heart for their people and a mind of excellence. I will attend the reunion luncheon and do whatever I can to help this vision come alive. I love this Web site!!

It is a blessed day when parents of children are given an option to pursue quality, life changing education rather than the inferior deficient ones that many New York City residents are forced to receive. I believe the W.E.B. Du Bois Academy is a light at the end of the dark New York City educational tunnel.

The W.E.B. DuBois Academy is a towering example of educational excellence and a brighter future for black youth. I intend to be a part of the NOAH Alumni Reunion to contribute to the hopes and aspirations of a powerful race of people.
