Tabari Zaid Bomani currently works at the Bushwick
Outreach Center (B.O.C.), which is an Alternative
High School in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. The Bushwick Outreach
Center admits students who were
unsuccessful in their previous schools (i.e. dropouts, push-outs, safety
transfers, etc.). Once admitted into the
B.O.C., students must take and pass the classes that they need in order to
fulfill their requirements for their High School Diplomas; this includes
passing all necessary regents exams. He
has been working at the B.O.C. for the last thirteen years. Currently, he serves as one of the Social
Studies Teachers, and he is the College Advisor for the school. (The B.O.C.
sends approximately 65%-75% of its graduates to colleges/universities). His teaching program consists of three major
preparations: Global Studies Regents Review, African History, Latin American
History, and Social Science. He earned
his B.A. from Hofstra
University in 1987 in History and
Secondary Education, and he earned his M.A. from Brooklyn
College in 1997.
